What is the Albuquerque Apparel Center about?
Albuquerque Apparel
Center is networking and building an
INDUSTRY for the State of New Mexico.
AAC is about our future, and our children’s future. The Fashion Industry is one of the largest, most vital industries in the world and the possibilities it presents to New Mexicans are endless. It encompasses anything having to do with clothing and accessories. Even things we might not think of such as socks and under garments or sunglasses, i-phone holders, and even cosmetics or the latest hair styles.
And its success depends on the participation of others involved in the apparel industry on all levels.

Fashion’s where you find it!
We have an outstanding opportunity to be the next fashion center of the United States,
But only if New Mexican’s work together to make it happen!
Creativity and Talent
New Mexico is a wealth of inspiration and ideas that come from its diverse backgrounds and environments.
Fashion here is based on what we have, not based on what we have seen in stores, magazines, etc. - -
That’s just following trends. We have created the trends seen all over the world. The elegant Southwest,
Native American and Santa Fe style, to the Wild West, Cowboy and Indian are popular New Mexico styles
known and produced all over the world. WE should be the ones producing and benefiting from this!
Cost of Living
New Mexico has a lower cost of living than most other states in this country which, during these
current rough economic times, is a huge advantage. We can start small, providing fair wages
that we can survive on that other states can't, and raise wages as businesses grow.

Albuquerque Apparel Center provides the following services:
Networking Hub and Promotion
Albuquerque Apparel Center (AAC) is a physical and online “Hub” connecting the entire state to resources, supplies, employment, and other industry related items and services. It promotes New Mexico Apparel worldwide through multi-media promotional advertising and events such as fashion shows, guest designer meet and greets, and Fashion Forward! Seminars. It helps current businesses grow, and creates a new environment in which new businesses and new jobs can be created, leading to opportunities for younger generations of New Mexicans.
Physical Presence
Apparel centers and marts of the past promoted finished products to sales reps of stores and sold at a wholesale price. The US can no longer compete with overseas production; therefore, apparel and accessory artists are unable to make a substantial profit from most wholesale pricing situations. AAC offers designers an outlet to sell retail directly to customers while also having the opportunity to connect with wholesale buyers.
Online Presence
NMFashionInfo.com is AAC’s online connection of the New Mexico Apparel and Accessory Industry to New Mexicans, the country, and beyond. It is THE destination site for all apparel stores, supplies, services, resources, events, and more throughout the state. Providing a personal approach to listings, it is replacing directories of the past that lack pertinent information.
Support System
There are talented apparel and accessory artists throughout New Mexico, but no support system to help this talent prosper. AAC is that support system. We offer professional guidance to businesses, assisting them every step of the way to assure their success from concept to consumer. Plus, we host professional workshops and guest speakers, sharing a large variety of information from the basics to the latest technology.
Education
Learn the aesthetics of high-end fashion couture garment and wearable art construction techniques. From concept to consumer, we cover inspirational concepts, flat pattern design/drafting & draping, sewing, and more! AAC School of Fashion Design provides a quality apparel education to all ages with emphasis on individual attention. We guide students in revealing their creative talents, assist them in the growth and expansion of those talents, and provide them opportunities to share their talents with others that provides them a means of financial support, fulfillment in life, and service to others. In addition, we provide mentorship programs for schools and organizations.
Community Involvement
Albuquerque Apparel Center will have a positive impact on Albuquerque, surrounding communities, and statewide. Working together with battered women's groups, rehabilitation facilities, and other "helping hand" service related groups, AAC assists those in discovering self-worth within themselves by providing Fashion Design classes to those in need of a "Hand UP" to get them back on their feet and functioning positively and productively in their community.

"I came across your info in the back of an Albuquerque
Magazine a couple of months ago and I was beside myself with excitement. I have
been sewing for years, learned in "home ec" back in 7th grade, and have
inherited my passion for textiles from both of grandmothers. I would be
extremely interested in learning more, as well as polishing what I already know.
I have hopes of someday having my "textile addiction" be my means of making a
living."
